From September 25 to the last week of October 17, we offer woodcock hunts in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean area. To make sure we are not pressuring the local nesting birds, we only cover the migration period. We hunts exclusive lands and the well known Ashuapmushuan reserve wich is really productive on small game. An experienced guide will be partnered up with you to help you work your dog the best way on each cover. During this period, he could get up to 15 flushes per cover. We can also get many opportunities on grouse and hare in the same habitat type that we hunt for woodcock. If you don’t have your pointing dog or he can’t make the trip with you, all our guide have their own well trained upland bird dog. We use German shorthaired pointer or English setter.
It is important to be in good physical condition to practice this activity cause the pursuit of these species requires long periods of walking in often irregular environnement.
It is possible to build a package to provide you the experience you are looking for. We can therefore target several species in the same day, for example, goose, duck or snow goose hunting in the morning and woodcock hunting in the afternoon. The opposite option is also possible and don’t hesitate to ask for a particular formula, we can adjust the activities according to your specifications.
